The Somersets are now due to arrive Calcutta Sunday and here Monday. Everything is ready for them now.
Sunday Jan. 16.
As my Gunners were with D Coy I went to church on my own to-day instead of on Parade. After Church I went to the S.S. office and spent an hour or so with Frankan cooking accounts. I had a chit from Somervall to say that the C.O. wants me to keep on S.S.O. till we near as Frankan will have quite a lot to do as Transport officer.
Just as I was going over to Mess tonight, St. Browne (S & T) met. me. He had got a wire to say the Somersets were not leaving Calcutta till tomorrow. Upset all arrangements again!
Monday Jan. 17.
Rode on the Island with Somervell this morning. Brownie's wire of last night was compared by the Bde and late on Thursday another wire to the officer that they had really left Calcutta.
Had a mixed four at Tennis this aft. Frankan Mrs. Frankan "Trixie" (Miss C.O.) and myself. The games were not at all bad.
