75 Wed Nov. 4 Gibraltar Went ashore after lunch. Am not very very struck with the town. There are some very pretty gardens about but the streets are narrow & ordinarily foreign. Mules are used a lot & the cabs are most weird sights. I did quite a lot of shopping -- chiefly photographic. I am very pleased with the camera: it seems to do anything -- in reason. Was still in Gib. at tea time. Most of the offrs. i.e. all except those on duty went to the 7th to Mess. I & Hickling & Franken? were left therefore. Tramped round the decks from 8 -12, & spent odd intervals in my cabin -- quite against regulations -- developing films. I did 3 spools. One unfortunately blistered. The others will yield 6/6 & 5/6. Good night. 12.0. Remaining offrs just came in all very wet. Just going to wakte Frankan? Thur Nov. 5. Nov. 5 No guys -- no fireworks -- no nothing. I wonder how many Kaiser wilhems will be burnt in England. We did a ??? march this morning right along the ???? of the rock almost out to the Neutral Ground. We halted close by the workers station. The aeriale there are wonderful things. They stretch right from the top of the rock (1356 ft up) to the Station at the fort. There are 20 strands in it & each wire must be about 1500 ft. long. I wonder it doesn't get blown down by the wind. We about turned there and marched back getting on just in time for lunch. The ??? band escorted us as well as our own. ???? SKETCH
