My dear Mother and Father,
Your letter from Stuckport?? arrived this morning Mother. It's a day or two late as it has had to come over here from Khausper.?? The direct mail was in on Friday.
I am afraid Mother that I smiled at your description of Harrow to Heaton?? Moor?? - being (or seeming) an "awfully long journey". It actually took 4 hours!
Was it the 12.10 you went by - the train that always used to have the new engines on, which I used to make pilgrimages to "The Bridge" to see?
I imagine us next Saturday week starting off to do 54 miles & taking 4 days over it! Why even the other day it took us 3 hours to get from Khausper?? to Murree (16 miles) and you could have done Paddington to Exeter in the same time. That's the difference between being on horseback & in a train! Sure??? 3 hours in the saddle does get tiring!
I am sorry to hear about Mrs Ball's leg. I must remember to mention it when I write to Mary. I hope, & expect, it is better by now though.
I had forgotten about Mrs Moorhouse's?? "Engagement"
though I believe you did tell me about it. I am glad he is a suitable match.
