1. Obviously for service in the Gulf.
2. We are actually going to P.G. in a fortnight.
3. We shall "stand by" in Pindi mobilised
4. We shall go to a Brigade camp @ Noushera?
5. We are off to the Gulf tomorrow.
I must say I am sceptical. But in the course of the evening evidence comes in which seems to confirm no. 2, though there is a contrary rumour that the 6th E Surreys are going and that we are replacing them. The explanation given as to our being allowed to come on here instead of mobilising at Dinapore is that the orders were issued (for us to go) while we were actually en route from Dinap. to Pindi.
We had dinner with the 6 E. Surreys. They seemed to take it as an absolute fact that we really are going & that there is no question about it at all.
We can but wait & see. We shall know in time. Personally I am unconvinced but at any rate there is an Active Service Medical Inspection tomorrow at 7.0 am or some such unearthly time.
The camp we are in at present is quite a good spot, nicely arranged & more or less a permanent camp. It is near the railway but that is hardly a drawback after 3 nights on it. The thermometer is not high, but might be lower!
