Thur. Jan. 20

Gave Mackie a hand in the S.S. office this morning.

We had a battalion??? parade at 11.30 & did some of the new Battalion drill. Considering the fact that it was the first time we have been together since Settingbourne??? things went awfully well & the C. O. was very buckeet???.

Spent a quiet afternoon packing!

Fri. Jan. 21

Now that we are actually on the move we don't seem to realise that we are moving.

We had a fairly strenuous time on the whole. Starting at 7.30??? with an adjutant's??? parade for streting??? tents ec.??? I got along to Breakfast about 9.0 & then had a few things to clear up which kept me on the go till 12.0. Then lunch and at 1.15 I went along to pick up my men. I found them rounding up a mule. We caught him in about 10 mins???, fell in & marched off. It is a rotten march but much is forgiven when it is a last time.

We had a rest for a bit at the Station until at 3.10 we started to box the mules. It was a fairly exciting job, but not so bad as one imagined. We had them all in by 3.35. Some we pulled in, some we pushed in, some we backed in, some walked in, some jumped in, so on the whole it was not without ranation??? !
