The "Boring" over I had to work out the Train. This took a good half hour and involved 2 or 3 journeys up and down its length and it is just under a quarter of a mile long!

After that I snatched a tea at mrs. Holmes' and then at 1.5??? the Entraining began. I had to watch that and when it was all we wandered along to see that all was correct. I found that 10 blighters of "A" coy had wandered into a carriage marked "Followers". It took about 1/2 an hour to get this right as it involved alternative??? with other carriages and men of other companies. Then this was a little excitement over R.A.M.C. which I eventually settled satisfactorily. The result of it all was that I didn't get Dinner till 6/30 instead of 6.0. We were due off at 7.10 but did not actually move until 7.30. We had fond farewells to the various people who had come to see us off.

I can't say that I leave Dinapore with any great regrets. It is quite a nice little station and in many ways a small station has a great advantage over a big one. There is the great drawback of being split into attachments???. We shall at any rate be all together at Pundi even though there are a lot of "Brass Hats" to worry us on the whole I am glad to change.

Saturday Jan 22 (En route.)

Breakfast at the unearthly hour of 5.20 this morning and orderly Dog to boot!

That means that you just settle down comfortably
