questions I had expected them to. All the questions they did ask were rather of the easy descriptions? on which one is expected to get everything right. I have a sort of feeling that I "strafed" it alright, but since I nearly came down on "Modes" on the easiest paper of the lot I have had a holy horror of easy papers. Finished at 11.30. It was only an hour and a half paper.

Climbed the hill behind the Range in the eve after tea and then wrote when I got back.

One thing that amuses me very much about the exams here is a certificate they make you sign, to the effect that you have given or received no aid during the exam and that "previous to the examination I had no knowledge whatever of the subject matter of the test"! Now what on earth is the use of going in for an exam if you have no knowledge of the subject matter?

A European morning. At 10.0 we went along and had an hour adjusting Mekometers??. It was quite interesting and not nearly so complicated as I had expected. We only did the simpler adjustments of course but few other things are likely to go wrong.

"Same" news to-day. The 5th Queens from Lucknow, the 6th Surreys from Pindi are going up to Noushna? for a Brigade Training Camp. The 5th E. Surrey
