The second half did not come up to the first as the ??? verses were all finished.

Castle Smith led off with ?Asthome? & as an encore Bennington say "The Rose" & C.S. gave the parody. We did however get the ??????? in an old fellow - one of the & I should think a survival of the old Volunteer days - he was wearing a Boer War Ribbon. He sang "The Old Brigade". He kept his eyes tight shut & rocked about & shook his head & didn't sing particularly well. The Room began to ???? & gradually it increased until we were all rocking! I stuck it out as long as I could but had to give in and laugh. He sang it through though! We finally closed up about 1.15 & walked home!

Thursday Dec 2

Spent the morning - or most of it - (didn't get up till 9/30)in writing & addressing Xmas cards.

Had a game of hockey in the evening - only a pick up. I very nearly shot a goal, only the goalkeeper happened to be loking & stopped it!

Friday Dec 3

Range this morning. Got jams galore consequently only got 2/3 of the way across the target and not immaterially there were a large number of spaces missed! It's all very well including time taken to remedy stoppages in the time but there are limits to the number one can remedy in 50 secs of time
