Thur. Oct 21st

Got a bombshell from the C.O. this morning. I asked him who was going to take over S.S.O while I was away. His reply was "Frankau permanently" It was a bit of a starter. He very carfully said that there were no reflections on me "You've been a jolly good S.S.O." Frankau has got his girl coming out & spoke to the C.O. in August about it & about cash, & the C.O. promised him S.S.O for the extra Rs 30 per ??? thinking that I should go to to DumDum! - Lump it! That's all!

Tennis in eve. Twigus??? cut in. Beach Corton Jackson Rudiry??? & myself. Quite good sets.

Spent quite a considerable time to-day writing letters. That's the worst of a birthday!

Two parcels turned up from home today. One a cake, the other a gorgeous Match Box, Pencil, & Cigarette Holder all in one case from the Mater & Pater. Its tophole!

Saturday October 23rd 1915.

Well! two years ago - or one for that matter - I little thought of spending my twenty onne in India! It has not been different much, from ordinary days & I do not feel much different at 21 from what I did @20 364

The mens have had an inkling that I had a 21ne about, but I did not let out the exact date.

We had the usual C.O's inspections this morning. He was horribly late. The M.G. & Scouts were all on the verandahs as we had been turned out by the white washer. The men were able to get back into the Bungalow as soon as the Co had passed.

Went up to the Range with Beach this morning - just for a ride. Snorker??? pulled a bit - he always does when he is with other pones??? - on the way back Beach distinguished himself by letting??? Maini??? down. How he did it I don't quite know. It
