Quite suddenly I heard his beast stumble and looking round saw he getting off his knees. Beach did not come off and the Pony recovered with a struggle though she grazed her knees pretty badly. The "experts" put it all down to the fact that he was using a standing Mortingate.???

Had quite a late night in Mess, though not in celebration of the ???. The Major had Owens in as a guest and we sang and generally made ourselves a nuisance to the existent neighbors until about 11/30
I debated long with myself as to whether or not should have a bottle of champagne in Mess tonight, but finally decided that it wasn't worth it and to drink "The Pung???" in Madeira -instead of my usual "Water" - by way of celebration.

I really think the cold weather has started at last. I got into my Autumn kit today ie I wore a Drill tunic instead of a Pufree??? one.
Went to the 6.30 this morning and then back to the Parade Ground for Parade @ 7.15.

The cold weather continues! Church! Took over the Chaplaining of the Gralcon??? today. the Padre goes to Sheeling tomorrow so I as S.S.O had to take over the church.
Tennis in eve. Mixed. Very boring. Then some cheery single with Stewart.
