Mon Aug 23

that after a hard fought game in which we practically played our 10 men we lost 2.0. Both of the goals were scored after half time.

M.G. 6.30 again to-day.

Toovey heard to-day from Cocton? that his I.A. Commission is going through. He is going to the 82nd Punjabis. When he will have to go he doesn't know yet.

O.R. 10.0 - 10.3.

Played tennis against the C.O. and Beach with Jackson (the "Leonard" combination) We lost the first set 9-7 won the second 11-10.

Night ops tonight. Only about 18 men in parade. Beach sent Hickling wiht a little crowd to establish a very imaginary outpost line to protect a convoy on the other side of the Nullah. He was especially to watch a certain ferry. I with six men had to get across the ferry if poss. & find out the position of the opposing Picquets & sent ??? groups.

Time nipped the operators in the ?? rather. They bagged the ferry boat & kept it on the opp side of the river, so we had to use another boat we found. We just got moving when the "Rally" went & we had to return to Mess.
