Toovey told me last night that I should probably get the M.G. under? the C.O. Gives them to ??? at Dum Dum. I should just love to get them.

Mail in at 9.0. Four fat letters. C.O.'s missus says we are going home in Oct & the 2/9th are relieving us. She's so convinced that she is cancelling all her arrangements to come out here.
Hockey Match in eve v. Spec. We had a very weak team out only six of our regular side & lost badly. 6 -1. I scored the only one which was a little consolation.

We had some thunderstorms last night. It began about 1/20. ??? 1.40 -- so the Sgt of the Guard told me today -- there was a huge crash which I heard though I didn't know the time. It was some crash too. The Sgt swears he felt the ground shake.

A year ago to-day that I got my commission. I didn't think then that I should be in India now. It seems ages too. Much mroe than one year. Just now with this mail we have got the "Home in October" rumour? badly. I wonder if it will come off.
