the Khagout Road and back.
Dined with the Battery to-night. As the monsoon really set in about 7/0. I nearly had to swim to get there. It was a sort of farewell to the Padre who leaves for the Persian Gulf on an unknown date.
Got back about 11/15.
Tues. June 29
Played some Raglime game of Hockey tonight. The ground was so slippery that when we made an attack on the ball, one's feet collapsed. Added to that we had two old balls to play with, with the result that in the later stages of the game the thing to do was to "tread on the string."
The Padre dined in Mess tonight. We drank his health in champagne. The evening was quite a jolly one. Everyone had to sing! I being pianist was excused -- probably because my voice would have shown up the others too much!
de Vesian streaked off at about 10/0. Of which he will probably hear more anon.
The rest of us only just missed the Re - 5 [???] five.
