228 Fri. June 4. 92. 76. nil.

Got woken up at 4.0 am by wind. Decided to brave it out. However in about 5 mins it began to rain. so I had to give it up and come in.

At 5.15 Beach descended and we talked shop for nearly a couple of hrs.

We had a busy morning in the Company Orderly Room. Beach has changed over all the N.C.Os . He has given me a cheery lot viz - L/Sgt. Slade not so dusty " Dening away on leave Cpl Prebble " " " L/Cpl Holloway in hills " Noyes permanent marker " Marlis H. in hills a useful lot. As a matter of fact they are all quite good - except Dening - when I can get hold of them.

Riding School 5/30. Felt most comfortable jumping tonight.

Sat. June 5 92 degrees 79 degrees nil

We had when a "faut - pas" this morning. The C.O. of course rarely arrives for his inspection before 10.0. Consequently we have arranged Company kit Inspection at 9.0 & Rifles at 9.30. Unfortunately this morning Beach was late and the C.O. was early. Consequently there was a clash. However at the critical moment someone came up with a message for the C.O. & kept him talking long enough for the men to put away their kit & be ready for him. But it was a warm 5 mins.

Riding School 5.30. Nothing new. Some jumping & vaulting.
