210 Fri. Jan. 1.] At 10.0 we left & were motored back to the Battu???. Camping Ground. The Coy??? had already fallen in. At 10.20 we marched on to the Maidan??? and we in position, dressed and all correct at 10.40. We had the Gunners & H.E's Bodyguard on our Right and the Native Infantry & Police on our Left. Punctually at 11.0 H.E. drove up and immediately he was ready up went the ??? of ??? & "Bo---om" went the first gun. The Feu de joie went very well. that was followed by a Royal Salute & then 3 cheers for H.M. the King Emperor. After that we amrched past. I believe we went by quite well. "A" coy didn't get a chance really as the band changed from a cavalry amrch to ??? ??? March when we 211 [Fri. Jan 1. were only about 15 yds from the Saluting Base. That scarcely gave us enough time to recover. We marched straight off the ground to the scene of the mornings breakfasts's and were there treated to Lemonade all round. Soon after 12.0 we were on the move again. The march from Dighe was very dusty. There were a lot of little blighters who insisted on running alongside of us & ridling??? up the dust. Spare??? asked me oned. -Seen any- they of our band lately Sir?" They were absolutely hidden from us by the dust. Still we reached barracks at last about 2.30. naturally we did not spend a busy afternoon. We had a young guest night tonight
