Mon. Nov. 16. Gulf of Suez In the afternoon Beech & Toovey went over to the ALAUNIA: on which is one of the Toovey's cousins. Beech did not get back till 3.30. So I had to take the afternoon parade. I gave them a lecture called from the 1st half of Chap. i of "Peoples & Problems of India." The company seemed very interested. When Beech returned we learned that the convoy has been here about a week. They all came on independently from Gib. Conseq. when Turkey declared war on the Navy people got rather a fright. However they got here quite safely. The C.O. went over to see the others. But on the Douglas but we did not get much news of them. I was off of the guard from 8-12 am. No excitement. We're anchoring all day to day in the same place in the Gulf of Suez. The Minerva turned up in the afternoon and gave orders for a rendez vous about 2 miles out ???. However that was cancelled and we actually moved off at 8.30. It is getting decidely warmer now. I wore my drill to day for the first time. Wed. Nov. 18 The convoy apprently lost itself last night so when we woke up this morning we found ourselves anchored again. However by 7.0 we had restarted and we seemed all complete. There are only 8 of us now in the convoy - less than Minerva. I suppose the other I have been dropped in Egypt. In the afternoon we passed the
