110 Wed. Nov. 18 Red Sea Sinaitic Range on our left. i don't think we saw Mt. Sinai itself though several people thought one of the lower peaks was Sinai. Personally I think it was too far inland for us to be able to see it. The scenery on both sides of us now in the Gulf of Suez consists of sandhills -- sometimes quite of a fair height. They derive a certain beauty from the variations of light & shade that there are. Parades were as usual. The aft. parade we gave up to Semaphore. Thurs. Nov. 19 Warmer to-day. a.m. parades as usual. (Physical Drill, men 10.0. Officers 11.30?? Now we are fairly in the Red Sea we can only see land on our left. Lectured the corp on Chap iv Indian Empire, at 2.15 then carried on with Semaphore. As 1/3 of the Corp were on guard we had only 2 groups so I turned one over to Hickling & one ot Cr Sgt & retired. Gorgeous sunset tonight. The sky just above the sand hills on the shore was absolutely a blaze of gold. This threw the hills into bold relief & the total effect was beyong any powers of description. The temperatures still miles high. Fri. Nov. 30 Warm. Now at midnight it is 84 in the cabin. I took a sun temperature at 2.30 to-day. Only 112! Beyond the ususal parades there was not much done by anyone. At
