it easy and to catch the 10.57. This we did. Unfortunately I discovered that this 10.57 stopped at Harrow by request only & that too by request of passengers from the *G.C.* line. I therefore trusted to luck that it would stop & it did not, so I had to catch the 12.35 back. the Marylebone ticket collector did not discover that I had given him a Harrow ticket till I had nearly reached the Booking Office. He pelted after me. "This is only an "Arrer" ticket! "Yes I know, I have got to get back there. So I am going to take a return & give you the forward half. That'll make it square won't it?" "Oh yes sir." I therefore did so & saved 4d. because if the chap had had the sense to excess me he would have excessed 8d & and it would have cost me another 8d to get back!

I arrived home at 1.0 & found the Mater rather worried about Grannie who seems rather bad. She is going to Devon tomorrow. Aunt Alice has gone down today.

Pater arrived home about 5.0 and we whiled away the hours with pleasant chat till 7.30 when I set out again for the station. At 7.47 I took an
