44 Sat.Jan 10.]

He had been over to Mrs King's with A. Lizzie. Mrs King is a great pal of Aunt's though I don't know her at at all well. Now Mr K. has just lately died - very suddenly so of course Aunt is over there more than ever. However the point is this. Mrs K. now wants to get rid of most of her stuff & go home to live with her Mother in Devon. Among the things she wants to dispose of is a piano so Uncle Jim knowing that our aged Brinsmead is not all that one could wish thought Pater might like to have it. He therefore took me over to her house to try it. It turns out to be a Metzler, quite good tone & decent action. She wants £15 for it & I think it worth it.

45 Sun Jan 11.

Went to the 8.0 this morn. Mr Mac Cassey buttonholed me for S.S. this a.m. I had to take Pledgar's class.

Mater mentioned the Piano to Pater this a.m. He now thinks of buying it for me at Oxford & getting our old one done up according to the estimate Brinsmead gave him a couple of years ago. They have estimated for practically a new inside £14.10s Hope it comes off.

Went to Kenton in eve. only 10 there. Pater went with me. We went into the house after the service and had a little chat with the Cottinghams. Got back about 9.0.

Page 44: I believe the price of the piano is L(pounds sterling)15 Page 45: Amount in ( ) for piano 'insides' is definitely a symbol for pounds sterling followed by 14.105 or 14.10 s. Not sure which one makes sense. Word on line two looks like it starts with "button". Sort of makes sense in context...some word for being picked, selected, tapped, pinned etc. for a fraternity maybe?
