Friday Jan. 2nd

Left Heaton Moor about 11.0 & went in to town this morning. Went to Mr. Ball's place in Albert Square & got the chap to test my eyes. As I thought the left eye is quite alright but the right one is short-sighted, only a very little though so it seems. However I am going to have a pair of glasses for high days and holidays and occasions when I want to see specially straight! They will be more useful when shooting than any other time.

Mr. Ball arrived at Albert Sq. about 1.0 & we went off and had Lunch together at the Victoria Station Restaurant (L& ?R) It is a lovely place. Prices a trifle high perh. but all the same it's a first class place.

Fri. Jan 2

We had a very nice lunch and "tell it not in Gath" - a very nice bottle of wine between us. However - After a stroll round the town "to see the view like" we departed by car for Heaton Chapel; I got back in nice time for tea. Mr. B. went on to the works. After tea dress for Theatre

6.45 Taxi arrives. It was already occupied by Elsie & Nora Kauntz. We got to the Theatre about 7.15 Found Harvey Pinck awaiting us. He was not one of the original party but wired in the morning to know if there was a spare seat for him. The reply - as Mr. Asquith would say - to the hon. gentleman's question was in the affirmative. Therefore he turned up. The other two gents of the
