Fri Jan 2

party arrived about 7.25 just after the ladies had taken their seats in the Boxes. (We had 2 £11 boxes holding 3 each). The play was the "Marriage Market" (Touring Company.) It was very good. Not much in the way of plot. Nothing very great in the musical dept, but still it was funny and I enjoyed it immensely, as did the others. The two leading ladies were pretty which is a great point.

The return taxi journey was exciting both from the point of view that a vehicle constructed to carry 4 passengers was taking 6 and there was a nice squash and also because the driver took a main road crossing too fast and only just avoided collision with a tram car by inches. (and by having good brakes). Still we got home safely about 11.0 and adjourned to bed about 12.0.

Mr and Mrs Ball who were at a Whist Drive at the ??? got in about 2 a.m. on. Saturday Jan 3

Discovered this morning that Mr Ball won 2nd prize last night. A pocket corkscrew, gimlette, bradawl and screwdriver all combined.

Had rather a scramble for brekker to-day because we did not get down till 8.35 and we had arranged to meet the Kauntz's at the car at 9.0 and to go on with them to the Ice
