was all violin. Miss Daisy Kennedy was the performer. She played two encores. The second encore was after her last piece. The clapping and cries for encore, *after the encore*, were so great that Ernest Walker had to put up his hand to stop them. It is one of the best if not *the* best concert I have heard there.
I sat next to Beckley. I spoke after the concert. He did remember me rather contrary to my expectation. Walker had told him I was up. The poor chap is in for Mods next week. Poor fellow. This is the first time I have really seen him this term, though I have passed him near twice. Shall prob. see more of him next term.

Hear from school this morning that Davies Squier & Hills are coming up here schol-hunting to-day. I wonder how many of them I shall see.
Jup's lekker this a.m. was delightfully short. (20 mins) He just gave us back 2 unseens without giving us another to do. Cut stocks at 12.0 partly by accident, but to make this clear I must return to yesterday.
Saye and Leach went out in a sailing-boat together yesterday aft. which neither of them knew how to manage. The result was that they started off by running bang into another sailing boat - & damaging it somewhat (10/-) Then when they had got over that the thing upset in one of the few places
