Mon Dec 1]

where the upper river is more than 6ft deep. As they were both good swimmers they got ashore quite happily, but the result to-day is that Saye is in bed with a chill. At 11:45 therefore I went up to see him & cheer him up. I forgot Johnnie Stocks till 12:20 (when of course it was too late to go!) and stopped with Saye till lunch time.

In the aft Herbert and I rode to Banbury. The road was very greasy in parts especially till about 3 miles out of Oxford and for about 5 miles into Banbury. However we arrived there at 4.30 Had tea. Left again at 4.55 and arrived in Oxford just in time for Hall after an exciting but uneventful ride in the dark from Banbury. Total distance about 45 miles.

Went to the Ugger after Hall. Voted for some funny people - whom I don't know in the least - for the Library and Standing Committees. Wrote home then came back to coll but was unable to do any work owing to swarms of visitors, OMT & otherwise.

Tue Dec 2

Went round to Herbert for Brekker this morning, & finished my chapels before doing so by going this a.m. Left Herb at 10.30 (Cut Jup at 10.0)

Left Coll something after 11.0 with Leach en route for Moulsford where the trials were rowed to-day.
