It is estimated roughly that out of 7 tribesmen, 1 would be armed with a 303 rifle, 3 with rifles or guns of narrow??? sorts??? (Marlines??? re???) & 3 with only knives.

Information obtained from our Political agents is usually very good.

Our main object as in all warfare is to destroy the enemy's power??? of resistance our difficulty that he will not -- unless he believes himself to have overwhelming numerical superiority -- stand and fight

Covering??? fire is the keynote of successful operations in these hills.

Marches

In uncivilised warfare the prospect of loss??? draws the enemy to the baggage, and to the vanguard.

As the??? march usually has to be made in single file over rough tracks it is usually slow. Frequently 1 mph will be all that is possible and 11/2 mph will??? be good going.

Camp must always be reached in time to settle in & get picquets out before dusk. This usually takes about 3 hours. A Brigade on??? the march takes about 7 miles of road space The last man will therefor arrive in camp about 4 or 5 hours after
