A sloppy morning. We started with the Quarterly Rifle Inspn??? (Com??? Sgt) That over we set to clean saddles. Then at 11/30 I in common with the other officers had to push off to a lecture at the Landsdowne histelie??? on "Machine Guns in Modern Warfare". It was quite an interesting lecture though most of it was from a book issued confidentially by the General Staff. I got it first after I got to Pindi. The most interesting thing in it was about the new M.A.??? Corps. Apparently - as far as men are concerned - it is an entirely new formation and they are not demanding the battalions at all. The strength of the corps is about 14,000 at present and they are going to push them in one masse in April when I suppose the big push is to come. They should make a big difference.
The General was rather a scream in his questions afterwards. The lectures said a lot about the Brigade M. P. O. ??? "About this B. M. P. O. ??? you've been telling us about - it seems to me he's a more important man than the Brigade Major."
The next thing he asked was what ammun.??? a M. G. fired, what gun we had & so on!!!
