out the nakedness of the land. In a way it serves the Battalion jolly well right for bagging riflemen for Company Duty Cuntinusally??? instead of giving me a chance to train them properly as a section. The worst yet is that it reflects on me such a jolly lot. However the Adjt. (M Hank??? the C.O.) see that it is not my fault so they can't curse me very much.

I saw the C.O. after it & was feeling pretty strongly at the time & said more or less what I thought. The fact of the matter is of course that he doesn't realise what a tremendous lot of work a M.G.??? Section has to get through.

I spent the morning inspecting kit for Service. Most men are pretty complete.

In the evening, by way of cheering up, I went along to a Pantaumime??? the 6th E. Surreys are revueing. V12??? - "Dick Whittington & his Cat". Everything was done by men in the battalion, even down to the female Chorairs???. There were two of them who made extraordinarily pretty girls, though the others were jolly good. The whole thing was jolly well produced & very well acted. It was full of topical allusion and the string orchestra (part of their band) completed it. The songs were not original. The one I liked best was "Keep the house fires burning". It is very pretty & catchy. Henly sang
