Played Tennis against the Sergeants in the afternoon.
(Doubles only) The pairs were:

Each pair has played every other pair. The result was 54 games for the officers to 9 for the sergeants. Tupper and I won our 6-1 6-0 6-0
After the matches and one tea, I went along with Mieville to tea with Mrs. Hewett. She is jolly nice. Everyone likes her and we had quite a jolly time. She doesn't stand on ceremony like so many of the memsahibs out here.
Sunday Jan. 10.
Went to the 7.0 ??? today. Only 3 of us there when I got back. I saw the C.O.s pony standing at Tuppers door. He had asked me to ride with him this morning but I had refused as he wanted to go at 7.0 and I wanted to go to church. So I looked in and found him only just ready. It did not take me long to go back, change and then out with him. We went straight along the Anandpoor Road. It was not the very interesting though I enjoyed the ride.
Quite a busy morning in the S.S. office. Lots in about the Arrival of the Somersets.
