Saturday Dec. 18th 1915.

Packed up before Breakfast and after it settled down to wait for our Co. At 10.10 it arrived and we weren't long in getting away. We went along quite merrily for about 2 miles and then saw that the engine was overheating. Examination showed that we had men out of water. So our drivers toodled off to get some. By the time he came back it was close on 11.0. Water turned out to be little use as the plug for draining it off from the Radiator had disappeared and consequently there was "some" leakage. Vain efforts to block it up with a piece of stick and mg??? wrapped round it took another 1/4 hr. He then directed to go back for another car. At 11.40 the car turned up and we had 1 1/2 hrs. left to do the 31 miles and catch the train! It was "some" drive. The first 10 minutes went down the Site of the "Khud". Consequently in its 2000 feet drop the road swished and hurried about considerably, though there were only two really nasty "hairpins". We took these comes just about as fast as we could without going over the edge. All was going quite merrily wehn we saw a little seater by the side of the road and a "Gown Padem" (the nation's name for the R.C. Chaplains)because they wear their cassocks always). and his wife stopped us and asked for a "Screw wrench". I am afraid we were not over polite. However he took what he wanted and we got a move on again. The road was more straight now and we were getting on
