I dined in Scout?? Mess Kit for the first time tonight. Only about half a dozen of us had been able to change. The rest were without their baggage.
Practically everyone seems to have arrived now. They are a cheery crowd from all over the place, which makes comparing notes very interesting. The 5th Queens (Lucknow) have been mobilised to an unknown destination - lucky days! So we hear have the 57 Batts. Consequently we are 2 officers short here.

Wednesday November 3rd
Had rather a late breakfast then spent a good deal of the morning writing.
Went out on our bikes at about 11.0 and explored the place a bit. It is almost a new sensation to ride uphil on a bike and seems an awful effort! Riding downhill too is an extraordinary luxury & gives one a speed one hasn't approached on a bike since England!
Played tennis in aft. Made up a four with Lamont, ???? and a Devon Captain. Quite good games.
Talked on the mess verandah till time to dress for Mess.
