Went up to the Machine gun again this morning. I shall know something about one in time. It's not a horribly intricate piece of mechanism.
As I was Orderly Off. to-day I couldn't do much in the Games line. However Stickling & Pengelly managed whack about on the Hockey Ground with a Rugger Pill.
Wed. Aug. 18
Parades nowadays are more or less a wash out from the Platoons point of view. One gets anything from 1-5 rules.
Played Hockey in eve w W.Y. It was a curious game. We played rather slowly till within 10 mins of time - when we woke up. The result was a draw nil-nil. Had we played overall??? as we played that last bit, we might have done some damage - but we didn't.
Thur. Aug 19.
Wrote & read most of the day. Watched No 8 beat the Specialists. Am afraid no. 8. will go through the League unbeaten: though I hope not. Unless they lose a couple of games we're done.
Fri. Aug 20.
Parades as usual. Amused myself with Stickling doing those from 9.0 - 10.0.
I see Lambert is in the Casualty list today - killed. The Taylors are too, which cause this mail is melancholy reading. Of the men I know several have gone - now Lambert.
