125 Fri. Feb. 26

As I was rather tired with the Range I slacked till Mess.

Sat. Feb. 27.

Went up to the Orderly Room at 8.30 to get my msns. as O.C. Remnants. The Advance Party were just starting off then.

This mornings parade was an N.C.O's promotion exam. We adjourned to our Orderly Room to finish it & wre rudely disturbed about 12.0 by our Orderly Sgt. with orders.

"Camp Cancelled.

Bungalows 3, 4, & 5 to be isolated. No man allowed out. Canteens are barred. All the occupants will move to ARrah this aft." - We live in stirring times!

The cause of the trouble is Scarlet Fever. The curious thing is that Scarlet Fever is practically unknown in India & we must have brought it from England. A man in our Co. was the first to go down with it - Brown F. J. then B & C took it up. So the R.A.M.C have been some excited I can tell you. We had two Medical Inspectors during the last week at both of which all was pronounced O.K. - and yet they isolate.

It has meant that 60 / 80 of our men have gone to Arrah. They packed up this afternoon, took up their beds and walked there.

Beach taken advantage of the upset to apply for - and get - leave for a week. He is off to Delhi tomorrow at 5.0 with Lanart. That leaves me O.C "A".
