Fri. Jan. 15. More or less lived on the Range to.day. The R.H. fired at 8.30 & I stayed on the Range marking till about 12.0 when Hickling??? relieved me. I went back for lunch & then back to the Range again as Hickling??? had to go over to Barkpore??? to arrange about Sports to.morrow. At 6.30 we had what I suppose is the 1st General Meeting of the C.E.M.S. & Hevert??? was elected President. Beach, Hervlert??? & the Padre V.P.S while I got the Secretanyship??? pushed on to me. We elected a committee, one man from each company & 3 gunners. As officers 223 [Fri Jan 15 are V.P's, no officers are on the Committee We hold a Committee meeting next Monday.
Sat. Jan. 16. Lecture by one Lt. Col Vanrenen??? at 9.30 to.day. He is a dear old chap and was really quite interesting. Except that he only told us one thing we didn't know before. He was lecturing on "Rearguards???". The one thing new was the weights a camel & a bullock cart can carry. At 12.15 the batten??? paraded to go to Bankipore???. There was only one officer per ??? on parade and as Hickling??? is sports sec. & therefore had to go over this morning earlier I had to take "A" ??? Jackson took the Bartin??? - as capr. of the week.
