200 Mon Dec. 28.] gave a magnificent Ey-----es Right to a tree! It was about 11.15 by now & we set off home. We followed the course dotted on the sketch map. ???DIAGRAM??? The band were still on the polo ground making fore the Bdge to join us there. The C.O's horse did not enjoy the Band - though it had made no fuss coming out - and as they passed to the head of the battu??? just by the bridge the horse did a war dance & nearly ahd the C.O. off them. the Syce??? held him with the Sgt Maj's assistance & handed the C.O. his helmet which had fallen the fray. 201 [Mon Dec. 28. By this time the Band had gone on to the Bridge. We were just starting to move off again after waiting for the C.O. when his horse started again. It nearly chucked him over the parapet of the bridge into the nullah??? and then bolted. The band scattered in absolutely record time. ??? went one way, men the other & must??? flue about as well. The horse went straight through then with the C.O. round his neck. It just missed crashing the C.O.'s head against a lamp post by about 6" & finally stumbled throwing the C.O. clear & falling itself into a drain. ???DIAGRAM??? I think it must have got on to the slope and sort of fallen over sideways. It
