Fri. Dec. 25 Well we only had about a ten minute's drive & then we alighted at a ruined bungalow. We walked then for about 1/2 mile to the water. There were several "Dug outs" waiting for us & two got into Each. Mr Wilson had a metal canoe of his own which was promptly nicknamed "The Submarine!" That left me odd man out, so as I hadn't got a gun I amused myself in the morning wandering about the centre of the lake or geall as they call it shining up the Duck for the others. We reached the Geall by a waterway which reminded me very much of the "Cher!"
At 12.0 we all assembled again at a pre-arranged spot for a picnic Lunch. When the others arrived the bags turned out to be. Mr Wilson 5 duck 1 teal "hoobly"??? 1 duck (one shot but lost) Beach 1 duck Frankan wash out Duck shooting is not an easy business. To start with you are in a wobbly canoe & then the duck fly at some fair speed and are pretty wily.
We all Enjoyed our Hezri. It really was a fine spread.
Afterwards we changed partners. I took my hostess & as Mr Wilson lent me a gun I did a little polting ???. Unfortunately it was two small a bore & the shot were too small to do much damage with it. I did not get any ducks
