Come ??? me as I drove up. Then of course we talked, had tea, & talked again. In the eve Mr & Mrs Cornickshank??? came in & we did more talking. Mr Lloyd came in as well on his way to ?? He says Cornickshank??? is giving up most of his work. Why, noone knows. It is weird.
Well eventually about 70.30 we closed talking & went to bed.
Mon. Oct 19
Went up with ??? by the 9.20. Met Fisher – by appointment – at ??? St. We walked to Hope's in F ??? St. I spent fri 8/9 the ??? 1/579 So they and a good ??? work. Then I went in ??? Rayners & paid for my helmet. It is being sent on. Fisher got his there as well. Then we jogged on again. This time to Selfriges. He bought two shirts for no apparent reason & then we went to the top deck for coffee. We only went in ??? lifts to do it. The first was in the old Thomas Lloyd's shop. That could only take us to the first floor. Then we stuck one in the main building. That couldn't manage more than the 4th & eventually we did get one that went from top to bottom. We had some coffee & cleared. ??? there ??? are chiefly worked by girls. I suppose all the boys have enlisted. The girls don't shrug off the ??? of deportment like the boys did. One ??? nurses it. The rest move was to hairs.
