himself & did not come off. I discerned a cottage near by & cleaned up a bit. This took about an hour & fortunately by then it was dark so I managed to get back to the vicarage practically unseen. The doc. came round about 8.30. He says nothing can be done beyond giving it time. So I must resigned myself to an enforced rest.
Wed. Oct 7
In bed all day. Very bored. Physog. improved some what. Vicarage people very kind. Meals excellent & a welcom change from army??? beef.
Thu. Oct 8.
Got into a greater ??? & sat in my room for the rest of the day. Doctor had tea with me. He hopes that I shall be presentable by Monday though marching will probably be out of the question. Very bored still. Everyone very kind. Several visitors.
Fri. Oct 9. Managed to decipher our regimented call today It is thus: - ???DIAGRAM??? I don't know what the correct words are. Much more presentable today may be quite decent by Sunday with luck. Hickling??? turned up this eve. He is as I was ??? Especially the RC. Bucks had the N Cos lecture in my room tonight which relieved the mandatory somewhat.
