10 Sat. Sep. 19 Exemption Claim Form. Apparently I have stopped paying 1/3 in the pound*. I discovered also to my intense surprise that my income from April 1914 - Mar 31 1915 is almost pounds? 130.14.6. I shouldn't have thought it! Sun Sep 20 Church Parade at 8.45. Slacked all day. Went to church in the eve. Our "Padre" preached. He was quite good. Had supper at the Harris's. Quite a treat too. Mon Sep 21 Holt did not come out today as he was inoculated on Sat. We went to our usual area. We were down at Blacketts to-day. We did Attack first stages chiefly. Tues. Sep 22. Applied for leave next Sat - Mon. Don't know whether I shall get it. I was alone with Stalton. We did Attack stage II ie, 1400 - 700 yds. Parade for Rookies in aft. Corp Concert at 7.0 which did not begin till 7.30. All offrs turned up. There was a goodly crowd. Miss & Mrs. Doubleday (the Bapt. Pastor's wife & daughter) also came for a short time. It was going strong when the officers and the ladies left en masse. We left for Mess. During Mess to-morrows orders came out & included the following information:- "Transfers. Lieut Little will take over charge & "training of Signallers from this date. Lieut Hewlett is transferred to "D" corp. 2/lieut Thompson to "D" corp. 2/Lieut Findaly is "A" Corp. Stalton was at the "the Don's" table. I watched
