6 Tue. Sep. 15. only 2 complaints. I slacked till lunch then went down to the cookhouse again. There was a certain amount of trouble there caused by orderly corporals failing to check their amounts of food. At 6.0 I had to post the ??ost on Gas works guard and at 6.30 there was Fire Picquet Transport & ??? guards to be posted & dismissed so I had a busy ten minutes. As I was feeling rather unwell I did not go to Mess for Dinner. 10.0 Orderly room. Only 3 absentees reported. (1 from Specialists 2 from "B" Corp) probably people who have missed their trains. Gave the orderly Sgts a lecture on the advisability of orderly Cpll checking their grub & dismissed them to their billets & myself to bed (& hanged the lights out business) Wed. Sep. 16 Corp still on light duty so arose at the blissful hour of 7.15. The parade at 9.0 was practically for Recruits only. We have now about 35 of them. They came in two batches. One batch yesterday & one on Monday. In all there are 340 coming to the Battallion. This stopped at 11.0 as there were returns to be got out re books, clothing etc which the Skipper & Col Sgt did on their own: so Holt & I slacked till 3.0 when there was a parade till 4.0. Then more slack, more feedings & so ends a slack day. Thurs Sep. 17 Felt rotten to-day. We to have stopped in withy our sick but the whole Battallion stopped in owing to rain so I had the whole day off. As a result I feel rather better now though still a bit "dicky".
