Pair work in morning. Morse. Off in aft till 4.30. Most people tried to get some sleep - with varying success. 4.30 parade to get kit ready for the "All Nighter"

5.0 Dinner! Parade 5.30. I had the job of telephone operator at the terminal which was at Camp. (We laid the phone wire after the pair work in the morning i.e 11.0-1.0). I was sending to RB which was a Railway Bridge on a Side Track about 2 miles S. The line was bad during my first two messages, but then the man a the other end put on a different phone. After that matters improved and I could hear pretty well. At 10 I changed with the man at RB and stopped there till 12.0 when I went back to Southcott. At 1.30 (Fri Mar 20) ??? opened again and messages dribbled through till 5.0 when the stations began to come in. At 5.30 I shut shop and made for bed. Slept more or less until 12.45 when we got up for lunch. Several people got up for Brekker at 7.0. I preferred to sleep.

The afternoon was spent in fatigue parades & packing up.

At 4.30 we had tea and then had 1½ hrs to dress and clean up for the Binge Rothschild gave us at 7.0. After labouring
