Wed. Jan. 14]

Nellie at home with a bad cold. Aunt & Uncle were quite chirpy. Cats &c all alive & kicking though old Silver is becoming aged and showing it. Zunny seems better tempered than he used to be. Stopped for tea but got home about 6.0.

Played solo in evening.

Thur Jan 15.

1st day of Hilary Term.

Left Harrow??? by the 2.38. Bidding the Mater an affectionate farewell on the platform. A fellow, obviously an undergrad, got in at Aylesbury. At Verney??? I accosted him and found that he was a Worcesterite, apparently a second-year man.

Thur Jan 15

Reached Oxford at 5.40. Met Gordon on the Doorstep. Griffiths arived a few minutes later. Spent the eve. after Hall in Capes Rooms with the MTS.

Pater told me last night that he has bought the Piano & that Miss A*h*y has given him a "substantial contribution" towards it. That's ripping of them both. I suppose it will arrive some time next week.

Fri. Jan 16.

Spent the day calling on tutors and otherwise messing about in a general way. Have persuaded Ball to let me take Maths vice Logic. Thank Heaven for that! Pullen seems to think I shall get thro' safely.
