GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR 2ND DIVISIONAL EXERCISES

DECEMBER 1916

1. Operations will commence at 5 p.m. on the 15th December. Until that hour no reconnaissances or movements are to take place and advanced forces on either side will remain North of the KOT NAJIBULLAH-SARAI GADAI road and South of the DOTAL KAS nullah respectively,

2- The skeleton Whiteland force will be distinguished by white bands 3" wide round the head-dress.

3 With the Skeleton force units will be represented by flags as under:-

A Squadron of Cavalry ... 1 white flag.

A Battery of Artillery ... 1 blue ,,

A Company of Infantry ... 1 red ,,

Machine guns will be represented by green flags and kerosine tins.

Attention is invited to paras 2 & 3 of Section 48, Training and Manoeuvre Regulations.

4. Distinguishing flags will be carried and badges worn as laid down in paragraph 74, Training and Manoeuvre Regulations, and pare. 27, Indian Supplement, except that:-

(a.) Chief umpires will be accompanied by a white flag with a black cross.

(b). Neutral signal service will wear white arm bands as for umpires,

blue and white being worn by remaining signal service.

G.O.C. 2nd Division, will arrange to provide flags, except for the Director.

5. Copies of all operation orders by the undermentioned officers will be sent direct to the chief umpires of the side concerned and to the Director:-

G.Os.C., division and brigades.

Commanding R A.

Os.C. divisional cavalry.

O.C. skeleton force

6. Reference paragraph 75 (2), Training and Manoeuvre Regulations, on the Officers' call sounding, the undermentioned officers will join the Director:-

G.O.C. division, G.S.O. 1 and A.Q.M.G.

Brigadiers and brigade majors.

O.C. skeleton force and staff officer.

Os.C. divisional cavalry.

A.D.M.S.

A.D.S.

A.D.T.

All umpires.
