It poured with rain this morning so the Padre didn't come up for the early service! He gives us one a month and yet because he is afraid of the rain he won't come up for that! No wonder he is popular!

Lazed in the afternoon till 4/0 when Toovey??? rolled up. He sent over on Friday to say he was coming to day. He has rejoined the Depot at Pindi & had to come to observe a Duty so took the chance of coming to see us.
I went up to the C.O.'s with him & then on to the majors' with him afterwards. He had many interesting yarns to tell us. He says that the number??? of his that have been told in the "house" about Mesopotamia is prodigious. He doesn't think we shall go out unless they have a general change round??? as there is not enough transport for more regiments.
He has been in nearly every show here since January so he has had his share of fighting and as throughout that time he has been Borgate??? M.A.O. he was particularly interesting to me.
He says the Demmords??? have shown up well there but the new arrivals have been nothing like as good. The large casualties among the Devon officers in the shope they were in
