had to spend some time trying to get the floor of the kutcha stable??, Frankan?? is putting up for my pony. just?? enough to put the mule in. Got the mule in about 8/0. Gave him a good handrubbing & then rigged?? him up. He seemed a bit better.
Sunday August 6th
Mule more chirpy to-day & took his grass. Did not go in Church Parade.
Re-examined on?? or two gentlemen who failed in the "Description" Exam yesterday. They all passed except one who I have sent back to his Company as "unlikely to make an efficient M. Gr"??
Taught Fox how to use a itekometer??? in the afternoon. There is to be a Brigade Test & he has to go on it - so have I. 3 officers & 8 men seem to be required.
Monday Aug 7th
A beastly miserable day. No. 8 seemed a little better this morning, though to-days continuous rain will hardly have improved him.
Had the "Mechanism" Presentation to-day. They all passed though several of them didn't seem to understand the gun yet. These people Lamont tried to make understand it, mostly successully I think though the consequence was we averaged
