Hampshire with Lord Kitchene this staff en boord en route to Russia. Lord Kitchene will be a big loss but not an irreparable one.

After digesting all this startling news we walked to the chenar Bagh. going "all round the parish to find the church" in doing so. However we did in real fact find the church so I took the opportunity to see what time the service is tomorrow.

Then we went on + our bill??? we went past the Chenar Bagh to the main stream where we chartered a Shikai Boat to find our houseboat. After we had gone about a quart of a mile we met it + in it proceeded to the Chenar Bagh where we tied up.

Srenaga is on the whole pretty. Much of it is like the water walks at Oxford but the river front looks far prettier in news than in real life, and I'm deadly tired of poplars. Sonne??? me must have had an interest in a poplar growing from when they built Srenager. For the whole of our 5 mile walk we had poplars in both sides of the road + in Srenagar itself are avenue upon avenue of them. It gets mainotonaes!??? On the whole I must confess I am disappointed in Caslnuire.??? The journey up did not disappoint me. I think the trouble is that it is Indian and being Indian it is smelly + dirty. Whereas we expected to find a glorified Devan, we find a place that is, granted, pretty, but - dirty, and the prettiness
