after dusk because a serpent lives in it which eats them!!! Sopor where we stopped is a "towns" of about 6 as??? houses according to the Guide Book + the chey??? thing that strikes me about it is heloctfe??? we anchored here for the night + then probably remain here tomorrow.

The great event of to day was Hament's decision to take up fishing. He was told that a rod + reel could be leased for RS.3. for the month so thought he do it quite cheaply! The first shock came when he discovered that one couldn't fish without a line. 7/8/- then that a license was necessary 5/-/. THen other little things were seen to be indipensible + the final result was that the outfit for his month's fishing cost him 23/-/- ( ??? pound symbol ??? 1/10/.) I was rather glad I had said I preferred to watch him fish, rather than do it myself.

In addition to the house-boat itself we have two other craft as port of our retinue. One a smaller edition of our own only with neatting sides instead of boards, which serves as a Cookhouse + accomodates our brarers??? and the crew. The crew include families, so that altogether in that boat are I think 8 men 1 woman 2 girls + one boy. The other craft is called a shikan boat + is a cross between a punt v a canoe. I had a go at Punting it in the wruing???. As I hewe had us Punting at all since I left Oxford.
