decidedly, though still unmistakeably up, until we got to Khyra Gali. There we had our usual halfway halt. From there the Battalion went along the "Pipe line" that is the level pathway along which are laid the pipes through which the water is comed??? to Murrec??? All pack animals, and consequently the M. R.??? section with our mules had to follow the road which went over the top of the Khud???. We got moving before the battalion and had a short distance to go though the climb was a pretty steep one necessatatig frequent halts. With Changla Gail which is I think about 8.500, certainly not less, we reached the lip and after that had all downhill. Just after Changla we caught our first glimpse of Ghona Dakka and saw it at intervals after that always seeming no nearer than it was before until a final turn brought us within half a mil get???.

The place is not so bad, it straggles all over the Khud??? for about 3 miles at varying heights from about 8.000 to 8.500 ft. The battalion is divided up between Khanspen??? and Ghora Dakka. "A" Cy &??? Band & Drums are at G.D. and the rest of the battalion at Khansper???

When we arrived we found we wer the first and all the officers of the battalion's advance party turned out to meet us. Even so we found

On this page, the phrase "and saw it at intervals after that" is followed by a crossed out word--"still", I think--which was replaced by "always". I wasn't sure how to indicate this in the transcription.
