were: Mile feet feet

We were quite ready for the half way halt! As it was Sunday we were much less troubled by the cars today. To spend Palm Sunday marching up hills from 3000 to 6600 feet that is from a height equal to that of anything in England to a height nearly twice that is to say the least a novelty.

I suppose it is best put down as fortune of war. Our camp was a weird one at Sunnybank tonight. The highest feet was 500 or 600 ft above the mile lines which was the lowest. We missed at the Sunnybank hotel which was about 1/4 mile from + 400 fer above our tents.

It is still nothing like as cold as I had expected it to be, just like an English early summer day in fact.

Monday April 17th

We did the last lap today. We got going about 6.40 + then had a steady 3 miles downhill followed by 3 miles uphill which more than made up all we had gone down. That took us to Barian. The road was then less
