About 4 or 5 mules over the the border after passing a reay??? pretty valley we come across a village with a rifle factory? It seemed almost incredible to it then that they could make rifles there but we came across an R.J.G. man when we got to Pishawa who assured us that they did so thingk??? all their machinery was hand machinery and they hand drilled the barrels! outside this the place were about 50 natives all with rifles some with 2 or 3!

We passed through this village and went on through gorgeous country for about another 10 miles - incidentally bumping into a donkey on the way (though he was undamaged except for being pushed over!) until we came to a ridge about 4000ft high

The Road wound up this with several twists and turns, and as we collected another pundure??? just over half way up we got out + all our Sandiviches??? while the driver mended it. Then we went on + up past the Fort at the top + found a most magnificent piece of road engineering in the road to the bottau???. It was cut + blasted from the side of the mountain just wide enough for one cart and a bit for the most part. Curving in and out round each salient??? or ne??? + but??? rant??? but going steadly almost relentlessly downward. From the betain??? it cut the side of the hill like a straight line so much that all the twists in it surprised us when we Come to them. Our journey down was not unadventurous as about 3/4 of the way down we went slowly round a sharp bend to find another car
