The Brigadier told the C.O.after the lecture that we are marching to ???? next week. That was a sufficient topic of conversation until 4.0 when the orders came through. We are to march. Taking 7 days over the 80 miles. ??? Service Seats. We leave Pindi on Wednesday "wot a grime".
Sunday March 5th
Church parade as usual this morning. I took "D" Company. It was pretty warm. We heard that the E. Surreys are going to ??? on Tuesday, also marching, so they will one day ahead of us all the way. The W. Kents are coming up from ???, but they apparently are going right up by train. I rather fancy the 4th Queens are coming in from Peshawa as well so it is the old Surrey Brigade Camp scheme again - revived. It was washed out when we were ordered on Service.
Monday, March 6th
Had very few men on parade today. So I spent the morning checking ammunition and then doing Standard Tests. I filled a belt in 10 min 5 secs. which is not bad: two men did it in 11.40 -- just 20 secs under standard.
