hind legs & tried to drop his Lord & Master off. However the said Master merely dropped his sword & stayed on, though he did think he was going over. Pony & all. A friendly Bandsman picked up the sword & the fidgetting continued less the acrobatic performances. Then fortunately officers returned swords & dismounted. The pony even objected to the Returning of Swords - not an easy thing with a pony standing still, but I accomplished it & awaited the General

He reached us eventually & asked a few questions about the Mules. His remark was "I will see them run presently". Prompt departure of my heart to the regions of my boots.

When the battalion marched off, we ran with the mules for about 100 yds for his benefit. Total casualties one mule got free but was recaptured, one went for a run on his own & took his driver with him, the rest kept more or less where they should be.

That over he wanted us to come into action from the Mules. As it was a thing the Section has never done in its life before the result was not eminently??? satisfactory. I was sick! After all it is only what I have repeately told our Orderly Room would happen, though I had hoped that it would only have been a Brigade M.G.O & not the Brigadier who would have spyed
